Solar Energy UK | Clean Energy UK - the UK's largest solar dedicated exhibition took place at the beginning of October 2016 at Brimingham's NEC, and FireRaptor was introduced to the British public. Following its excellent reception at Intersolar 2016 in Munich, Solar Energy UK generated huge amounts of interested roof-top designers and installers responding to demand for improved fire safety from the market. In particular, UK insurance companies are becoming increasingly concerned with fire safety given that UK fire fighters have a duty to minimise commercial losses consequently mitigating insurance risk and payout.
In June 2016, IMO took the FireRaptor concept to Intersolar in Munich, Germany. As leaders in solar safety, and manufacturer of the market-leading IMO SI range of TRUE DC solar isolators, IMO have yet again innovated and created a product which addresses another area where safety in solar arrays is paramount. The FireRaptor is a solar panel rapid shutdown solution which provides three forms of emergency rapid shutdown to ZERO volts. It utilises a manual switch which can be sited virtually anywhere, giving the fire department the ability to quickly isolate power to the solar panels, from stree level. The interest the FireRaptor gained was significant, and the stand at Intersolar was inundated with interested people, making it a hugely successful show for IMO.
IMO Canada were approached to offer a reliable solution for solar rtacking control to replace an existing set up which included programmable relays and time-based PLC tracking controls. The customer's site contained a large number of high quality, 2 axis solar arrays built on rural farm properties, that were starting to fail, and that the company that originally designed and installed the system had since gone out of business.
